Performance: 7.5 Value: 6 Company Greenness: 10
I don't know about you, but in my busy household, the stove can get pretty dirty! Recently, in a flurry of effort to get my stove top sparkling again, I pulled out a sample of Shaklee's Mild Abrasive Scouring Cleanser. I was intreagued from the onset at this mild scented, earth colored scouring paste. I have spent a veritable lifetime using "conventional" powdered options for abrasive cleaning so a paste was an interesting twist. This product worked like a charm, easily whisking away tough grease splatters and most cooked on crud, however on some of the most difficult "baked on" gunk, a good deal of scrubbing left minimal change. At approximately $8 and something a bottle for a 9 oz container, I still feel this product is a fairly good deal - it easily takes care of most of the scrubbing that needs to be done, and I feel confident that this product will meet most other household cleaning challenges head-on. (And let's face it - easy cleaning is cleaning that actually gets done!) However, something a little tougher (but still safe enough for stove top use) would have been even better for a stove-cleaning-slacker like me. For greenness, I give Shaklee a solid 10. This company is cetified as Climate Neutral, makes non-toxic, biodegradeable products, and is partnered with 2004 Nobel Peace Laureate Wangari Maathai to help plant a billion trees world wide. Personally, I think they would be wise to market to supermarkets and other store chains to get their product into the hands of the masses, but for now, you'll have to find an independent Shaklee dealer near you or search online. |
